Educelerate is a national education industry network for people passionate about promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in education — particularly through the use of technology. We focus on educational and business models as well as geographic markets generally overlooked by the EdTech media, organizations, foundations and investors on the Coasts. We have built this network through the grassroots activities of our community organized hubs including Educelerate North in Chicago and the Twin Cities and Educelerate West spanning Los Angeles, Colorado and Phoenix.
By organically and authentically bringing together educators, entrepreneurs, technologists, investors, and education industry enthusiasts, our vision is to create a collaborative space where people across these sectors can collaborate to share challenges and explore meaningful innovative solutions for education, including improving learning outcomes for all students.
The Educelerate Vision:
Educelerate provides a platform for individuals passionate about education innovation to amplify their voices by highlighting grassroots innovation through reporting, panel discussions, and interviews around critical issues and solutions within education. In summary, we strive to:
- Give education a clear and resounding voice.
- Be a platform for education innovation.
- Be a leading voice in education commentary, communication and content.
- Provide support for developing leaders in the field of education and education technology.
- Show how individuals can impact education innovation without relying on “Big EdTech.”
Echoing our core ethos, Educelerate has never taken a single corporate, foundation or state grant and has managed to keep its monthly meetups to just $5 or less per attendee and our Educelerate Conference to less than $150. We have helped direct over $30 million in funding to our education technology start-ups, but are even more proud to have made the following introductions between our individual and organizational members:
- RedShelf – introduced Tom Scotty, the former president of MacMillan, to become COO
- ModernTeacher – introduced Mike Smith, a former education consultant, to become a strategy officer
